There’s no place like home!
Chad Michael Murray recently told Interview Magazine that he and his family bought a house in Buffalo, N.Y., where he was born and raised.
“We just got a house in my hometown of Buffalo and we’re moving in. I’m excited,” Murray, 43, said when asked about his holiday plans. “I go full Clark Griswold, and so I’ve got some plans ready for the kids.”
The One Tree Hill alum shared that he takes the initiative when it comes to decorating for the festive season, but this year will be different.
“99% of it is going to be me, but this year I did have to call someone to put lights on the house because I’m not there to do it,” he explained. “But as soon as I hit the ground, I’ll be up and running. We go big.”
As for the timing of the move, Murray said, “It was my wife’s idea.”
The Merry Gentlemen actor and his wife Sarah Roemer have been married since 2015. They share three kids, a son born that same year, a daughter in 2017 and a second daughter in 2023.
Earlier in the interview, the actor revealed that he moved away from his hometown in September 1999 to pursue acting.
“And by January 2000, I was already with Warner Brothers and working. I was so blessed, so lucky,” he said. “I was that guy that came off the boat and they were like, ‘Oh, yeah, come on the show.’ And I didn’t understand the power that the industry can have, the respect that you must give it and give everyone and every moment.”
Murray had his breakthrough role in 2000 on Gilmore Girls before going on to star in the popular teen dramas Dawson’s Creek and One Tree Hill. He also starred in the movies A Cinderella Story and Freaky Friday.
As of late, he has cemented himself as a Hallmark star after leading the movies Write Before Christmas, Love in Winterland and Sand Dollar Cove. Now, he is on the third season of his show Sullivan’s Crossing and is set to appear in the movie sequel Freakier Friday.
Murray tends to keep his private life under wraps, although in a 2023 interview with Parade, he spoke about relocating to Canada with his family to film his CW show.

“We’re so used to it,” he told the outlet. “We live out of a suitcase pretty much primarily. When we came here last year, we made a really quick decision [to] get as immersed in the community as we possibly could.”
