The Community Spotlight 2024.03.16 – Giant Bomb

By mzaxazm

Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the important site-related news and best community creations from the previous week.

I’m going to just come out and say it, but this is going to be a short one because I got incredibly ill this week, missed practically everything that aired this week, and was not able to follow any of the big announcements.

Once again, ads shouldn’t be in the Premium podcasts anymore. This problem should have been resolved starting with the Giant Bombcast 830, and you should see the Premium tag reflected on the site and RSS feed from now on. If this issue is still impacting you, please head to “Site-Tech-Issues” on the Giant Bomb Discord or file a bug report on the Bug Reporting Board.

The previous issues with the RSS Feed also seems to be resolved, however, please still consider bringing this issue to the site’s attention if you are still experiencing problems. Likewise, most on the Discord are reporting that the work arounds shared last week seem to have resolved their issues when trying to listen to podcasts on podcast apps.

Fore those that missed it last week, Pocket Casts has a whole process you need to do, but it should now be working without issues. Click the “RSS” link to the right of the feed you want. The URL of the page that pops up is the URL you want. If you use Overcast, if you pick the premium audio feed on the site and then copy the RSS on that version you can add it manually to the Overcast app. Another person on the Discord said “long-pressing the RSS icon” and going to Copy Link works for adding the premium feeds to the apps they use.

Finally, PAX EAST 2024 IS NEXT WEEK! Tickets are still available, but Saturday-only badges are sold out and Thursday-only badges are in low stock! If you plan to attend the event, BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW! Also, here are the PAX East 2024 panels that may be of interest to any Giant Bomb fans:

Jeff Grubbleton’s Family Photo & Grubb Vanity Fair Cover (By: @kone)

Oh, British royals, when will you ever not give us goofy-ass breaking news? Regardless of what you think of the latest Kate Middleton news, Kone decided to imagine the Giant Bomb staff posing in this now infamous photo.

Likewise, Merry Kish pointed out that that Grubb’s face in this image bore a striking resemblance to his Vanity Fair photo shoot, and Kone decidedly agreed with her.
