CI Games cuts around 30 staff in “final” round of layoffs

Developer and publisher CI Games is laying off around 30 employees.

That’s according to GI.biz, which reports that this is apparently the “final, targeted round of redundancies”. The production team is being hit in these cuts; CI Games says the layoffs will ensure “maximum efficiency in delivering strategic priorities going forward.”

The company has confirmed that Hexworks – CI Games’ primary team, best known for Lords of the Fallen – isn’t being impacted by the cuts. That developer is currently working on a new action RPG dubbed Project 3.

Underdog Studio, CI Games’ other developer is working on a game called Project Survive that the company says has been given more time to produce a vertical slice.

“All affected employees have been informed about this proposal today, and will be fully supported throughout the process over the coming weeks,” a CI Games rep said.

CI Games cut 10 per cent of its workforce back in January.
