Disco Elysium vets found two more studios

There are two more studios that have been founded by veterans of Disco Elysium maker ZA/UM.

One of these developers is Summer Eternal, founded by one of the aforementioned cult hit’s writer’s Argo Tuulik, according to IGN. He was laid off from ZA/UM in February. Other staff at the developer are voice actor Lenval Brown, principal writer Dora Klindžić, senior concept artist Anastasia Ivanova, graphic designer Michael Oswell, and Aleksandar Gavrilović, previously of Gamechuck.

Summer Eternal is going to be based in the Croatian capital Zagreb in April of next year.

“We must be living at the dawn of a cultural Golden Age, when like mushrooms after rain the companies promising ‘the next Disco Elysium’ are popping up every hour on the hour,” a statement from the developer said.

“It’s a sure sign that the fifth anniversary of the release of this monumental game is approaching and every corporation wants a piece of the fortune.

“However, often forgotten in this money lust are the creatives themselves, first instrumentalized for press releases and afterwards underpaid, silenced, bullied, sued, abused… But it is all of us – the creatives, the workers, the players – who should be holding control over the means of our creation and who should be celebrated on this day.

“Therefore, we announce today our own vision of a worker-owned co-operative, a complex structure that will ensure that not only moneylenders but every worker, every creative, even every player, has a seat at the table.”

Next up is Dark Math Games, which IGN reports has been founded by four staff, including motion graphic designer Timo Albert and Heiti Kender, the brother of Kaur Kender, the exec producer on Disco Elysium. The venture is working on a ‘true detective RPG’ called XXX Nightshift. “Additionally to innovating the traditional RPG mechanics, we’ll bring something fresh to the table,” Albert wrote.

“You will see. And of course, a few less words. And a few more bullets, perhaps. In total: lot more fun.”

These two studios are on top of Longdue, which was founded by Disco Elysium album recently
