How To Draw a Snowman Video
There are four easy-to-follow steps below for teaching kids how to draw a snowman in each of three different ways. They should simplify the process for kids of all ages and abilities.
How To Draw a Snowman Step-by-Step (Version 1)
Step 1
Begin by drawing a small circle toward the top of your page. About halfway down the circle, draw and shade two little dots that will be the snowman’s eyes. Once the eyes are complete, draw a small sideways triangle to serve as the snowman’s carrot nose. Finally, add a small U shape for the mouth.
Step 2
Now we’re going to give our snowman a cute little pair of earmuffs. Draw a squiggly earmuff on the left side of the snowman’s head and then repeat on the other side. Next, draw a line that comes up and over the snowman’s head connecting both sides of the earmuffs.
Step 3
It’s time to add the snowman’s body! Firstly, we’re going to give him a scarf to stay warm. Starting on the left bottom of his head, draw a small squiggly line and then connect it across to the right bottom of the head. Add some vertical lines inside the scarf for texture/pattern. Coming off of the left side of the scarf, draw an oval shape that will form the snowman’s body. It should be about twice as big as the head. Finally, add two little dots in the middle for buttons.
Step 4
Every snowman needs arms! Draw a diagonal line going up and out from the snowman’s body on both sides. Then, add three shorter lines coming off of each arm. The fingers should start right around the base of the snowman’s earmuffs. Now we’re going to finish off the scarf with two little blocks coming off the bottom right of the scarf. The smaller one is meant to show depth and appear behind the larger one. Finally, add some fringe at the scarf bases and a few horizontal lines on the larger block.

Step 2
Draw a thin strip inside the upper part of the snowman’s head that will form the bottom of his winter hat. Then, create a swirling triangle shape that leans to the right and culminates in a point. Add a few horizontal lines from one side of the hat to the other. Finally, add a cute little pom-pom at the top.

It’s time to add the snowman’s body! First, we’re going to give him a scarf to stay warm. Starting on the left bottom of his head, draw a small squiggly line and then connect it across to the right bottom of the head. Add some vertical lines inside the scarf for texture/pattern. The fingers should end right around the base of the snowman’s hat. Now we’re going to finish off the scarf with two little blocks coming off the bottom right of the scarf. The smaller one is meant to show depth and appear behind the larger one. Finally, add some fringe at the scarf bases and a few horizontal lines on the larger block.
How To Draw a Snowman Step-by-Step (Version 3)
Step 1
Begin by drawing a small circle toward the top of your page. About halfway down the circle, draw and shade two little dots that will become the snowman’s eyes. Once the eyes are complete, draw a small sideways triangle to serve as the snowman’s carrot nose. Finally, add a small U shape for the mouth.
Step 2
Once the head is drawn, draw an oval that tilts to the left that will serve as the start of the snowman’s top hat. It should overlap the top portion of the head. Then, draw a rectangle that overlaps slightly inside the tilted overlap. This will create a small horizontal rectangle. Shade all but this small rectangle.
The fingers on the left should start just under the base of the snowman’s hat. Now we’re going to finish off the scarf with two little blocks coming off the bottom right of the scarf. The smaller one is meant to show depth and appear behind the larger one. Finally, add some fringe at the scarf bases and a few horizontal lines on the larger block.
