Jamie Lee Curtis Breaks Down While Talking About ‘Horrific’ L.A. Fires

Jamie Lee Curtis is devastated by the ongoing fires in Los Angeles.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, Jan. 8, the actress and producer, 66, became emotional when discussing the situation after revealing that her neighborhood was on fire.

“I’m literally just about to cry,” Curtis said as host Jimmy Fallon, 50, offered his condolences.

Trying to compose herself, Curtis continued, “As you know where I live is on fire right now. Literally the entire city of the Pacific Palisades is burning.”

“I flew here last night,” she added of filming the show in New York City. “I was on the plane, started getting texts and it’s [bleep] gnarly, you guys.”

“It’s just a catastrophe in Southern California,” she continued. “Obviously there have been horrific fires in many places [but] this is literally where I live.”

The Freaky Friday star revealed that her local market, her friends’ homes and many schools have been destroyed in the blaze.

“It’s a really awful situation,” she said, adding that she was going home to L.A. tomorrow to be with her family and “try to help my friends.”

The mother of two shares daughters Ruby, 25, and Annie, 34, with screenwriter husband Christopher Guest.

Curtis then urged the audience to support the American Red Cross.

“Do anything you can,” she said. “Anything in your community to help people. Whether you need it or not now, you will need it. Give blood, donate, whatever you can do.”

Curtis’ appearance came after she revealed earlier on Wednesday, Jan.8, that her community was on fire but reassured fans that her family was “safe.”

Sharing a photo of one of the fires on Instagram, she wrote, “My community and possibly my home is on fire. My family is safe. Many of my friends will lose their homes. Many other communities as well.”

Many celebrities have lost their homes in the blazes including Anna Faris, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag and Paris Hilton.
