The next Pro-level iPhone might be the beginning of the end for Dynamic Island.
According to a rumor posted by the Chinese site MyDrivers (via Wccftech), the iPhone 17 Pro might feature a downsized Dynamic Island. The pill-shaped front camera module that was introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro has been a reliable and useful replacement for the hated notch, thanks to its ability to animate and show many different kinds of notifications. However, if this rumor is true, it’ll be downsized on the 17 Pro, and as Wccftech pointed out, Apple could eventually ditch it altogether as it pursues a potential future “all-screen” iPhone. That, of course, would have to happen in 2026 at the earliest.

MyDrivers also claimed the borders around the iPhone 17 Pro display will be smaller than they have been previously in the same report. Aside from that, details on the iPhone 17 Pro are scarce and murky. The Pro will theoretically be joined by a regular iPhone 17, as well as the heavily rumored iPhone 17 Air. The Air model is supposed to be the thinnest iPhone ever (in case the name didn’t make that clear), but a recent report suggested Apple was having a difficult time accomplishing that due to battery size constraints.
If you love the Dynamic Island, make sure to hold it close as long as you can. It may not be long for this world.
