Sony is apparently in talks to acquire the parent company of Elden Ring maker From Software, Kadokawa.
Reuters reports that a deal could actually be signed within a few weeks, though neither company has commented on the matter.
Sony already owns a 14 per cent slice of From Software, as well as a two per cent stake in Kadokawa. In addition, the company already owns the Bloodborne and Demon Souls IPs having published both titles. This deal would see PlayStation snap up Kadokawa’s 69.9 per cent stake in From Software, while it appears that Tencent will likely keep its 16 per cent slice of the company.
Kadokawa’s shares closed 23 per cent up at the close of trading.
Kadokawa recently said it hoped to expand its PC and console publishing business.
