Sydney Sweeney called out her online critics for comments made about her appearance.
In a Dec. 13 Instagram post, the “Euphoria” star shared some of the criticism she’s received about her body as part of a workout video montage.
The video began with screenshots from anonymous commenters online making derogatory remarks about the actor and her appearance. The comments seemed to be surrounding new photos that were published online of the actor donning a bikini at her home in Florida.
Without captioning the video, she highlighted dozens of comments blasting her looks, including one that read, “She is extraordinarily average, which is why she always makes sure her chest is the first thing to enter any room.”
“Was she playing the live action role of miss Piggy?” another comment read.
Another individual wrote, “Not at all her best look. She is better off leaving herself to people’s imaginations.”
“Proof guys, take your girlfriend to the pool for the first date,” one commenter wrote.
One individual wrote, “She’s really not very attractive. Not sure why she’s so popular.”
“I had a better body at 37 before I got pregnant with my youngest,” they added.
In one of the final comments of the video, someone wrote, “Looking a little Chunky…Back to the Gym Girl.”
The video then transitioned to a highlight reel of Sweeney’s workout routine as she prepared for an upcoming biopic about the former professional boxer Christy Martin, which wrapped filming back in November according to the actor.
She included clips of herself flipping tires, lifting weights in the gym, practicing boxing both in and out of the ring, and more strenuous exercises to get her ready to portray Martin on-screen.
Sweeney also showed off her progress amid the intense routine, posting several clips of herself posing in the mirror and flexing to show off her muscles.
In the comment section of the video, Sweeney received a host of support from fellow actors and friends.
Former “Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart shut down the critics, writing, “It’s always wild to see people publicly out-themselves as pieces of s–t with comments like that. You look incredible and your dedication to your project is very inspiring.”
“The thing is these people would never say it in person,” actor Isabela Merced wrote in the caption. “Too scared. But if they ever did? best believe it’s hands.”
One fan wrote, “girl you look AMAZING. they all sound jealous.”
“I will never understand the hate in people‘s hearts when it comes to leaving comments like this,” another fan added.
Sweeney has previously opened up about her struggles with objectification in Hollywood and navigating the waters as a young actor.
During a March appearance on TODAY, she opened up to Craig Melvin and Laura Jarrett about how she’s learned to deal with the criticism about her appearance, with Sweeney explaining, “I kind of just have to take (it) day by day and just keep being myself.”
When Laura asked the actor if she considered it to be “an unfair amount of scrutiny,” Sweeney added, “I think that it’s just — of course it’s not natural. I’m just trying to figure out how to deal with all of it.”
