When Overwatch 2 s13 starts and what’s included in the battle pass

By mzaxazm

Overwatch 2’s next spooky, supernatural season will be packed with fresh costume changes for the heroes of Overwatch, just in time for Halloween. The game’s annual holiday event, Halloween Terror, will make a return this October, remixed and revitalized with a new spooky PvP mode.

And while season 13 of Overwatch 2 doesn’t feature any new maps or a new hero, existing maps are changing, and players may get a sneak peek at season 14’s new hero — the tank teased at last year’s BlizzCon — if Blizzard’s latest teaser is any indication.

Here’s what Overwatch 2 players can expect in the coming season.

What time does Overwatch 2 season 13 start?

Overwatch 2 season 13 starts on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Blizzard’s new seasons typically launch at 2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT in the United States, so we can expect something similar for the launch of season 13. This means the update will likely be available at these times:

  • 11 a.m. PDT for the west coast of North America
  • 2 p.m. EDT for the east coast of North America
  • 7 p.m. BST for the U.K.
  • 8 p.m. CEST for Paris
  • 3 a.m. JST on Oct. 16 for Tokyo

Season 13, known as Spellbinder, will bring a new battle pass, a new crossover with My Hero Academia, and the return of the Halloween Terror to Overwatch 2. Blizzard is going all in on new Mythic cosmetics this season, with a new Mythic Spellbinder skin for Widowmaker, a new Mythic weapon for Soldier:76, and new Gilded Aspects for existing Mythic hero skins, which offer new black and gold color variants.

Overwatch 2’s new battle pass will feature the standard 80 tiers of rewards, including Legendary skins Bog Witch Ana, Necrotic Witch Junker Queen, Witchbane Sojourn, Gnome Torbjorn, and Monstrous Sigma as part of the pass’ premium track. Additional spooky and supernatural skins timed for the Halloween season will be coming to the store, including new looks for Ashe, Illari, Kiriko, Mercy, Symmetra, Tracer, and Winston.

This season’s My Hero Academia crossover runs from Oct. 17-30, and will include the following crossover skins: Deku Tracer, Uravity Juno, All Might Reinhardt, Himiko Toga Kiriko, and Tomura Shigaraki Reaper. A Mega Bundle will include all five skins and bundle-exclusive cosmetics.

Halloween Terror 2024 will run from Oct. 15 through Nov. 4, and include a new fast-paced Team Deathmatch mode called Junkenstein’s Laboratory. The mode will feature a system called Cursed Talent Cards, which will give Overwatch heroes new abilities. Previous co-op modes from Halloween Terror events past — Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride — will also return with new challenges and bosses.

Four maps are getting updates this season: Numbani, Circuit Royal, Dorado, and Havana. All four maps have had some amount of work done, but a consistent change is Blizzard has altered the area around the attacking team’s spawn on each map.

Additionally, Overwatch 2’s roster is about to expand with a new tank. While that unnamed tank, the game’s 13th, likely won’t go live until season 14, there’s a good chance players will get a glimpse of him during season 13. In fact, Blizzard has teased the new Scottish-sounding hero in the game’s season 13 trailer. If the new tank is released for a limited-time playtest, as Mauga and Juno were, we might see him in game sometime in November.

Overwatch 2 is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
