Sarah Michelle Geller caused quite a stir!
The actress recently posted a photo from the I Know What You Did Last Summer set on Nov. 27, which sparked rampant speculation about the reboot. On the Dec. 10 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Gellar shared with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that she “got in a bit of trouble” for the post.
Gellar, 47, and her husband Freddie Prinze Jr., 48, met on the original I Know What You Did Last Summer set. While Prinze’s Ray Bronson survived the 1997 slasher, Gellar’s Helen Shivers was murdered in the film.
So when she posted a photo of the director’s chair, which had the title of the movie written on the back of it, fans regained hope that Gellar’s beauty queen character would return to the franchise after all.
“Coming from the soap opera world, I was like, ‘she lives!'” Ripa said.
Gellar explained that Prinze was starring in the film and it was shooting in Australia, so for Thanksgiving she went to visit him with their children.
While on set, she saw the back of the director’s chair and thought it would make a nice photo, she said.
“Then I found out that they hadn’t posted any pictures from the set yet — hadn’t announced they started filming,” she said. “Yeah … that was an ‘Oops! My bad!'”
Gellar added that she should have known the rules for sets being labeled “closed set.”
Ripa noted that Gellar’s Instagram had a much bigger following than the reboot film’s page — Gellar’s 4.6 million to the movie’s roughly 4,500 followers, respectively.

Due to the unplanned exposure, the movie’s account was actually created in response to Gellar’s post, the actress said.
“And so I got in a little bit of trouble,” she said.
